I’m going to have to take a measured approach to my posts, otherwise I can hit a pretty high ratio of cats-to-everything-else photos. Kind of the nature of a) not getting out much, and b) cats are easy subjects. Relatively.
This photo at least has a short story to accompany it.
My 10mm f/2.8 wide angle lens was a birthday gift from my parents a couple of years ago. I may be managing a photography blog these days, but for sheer output and enthusiasm my dad makes me look like a weekend warrior. He has almost 600 pages of images uploaded to his Flickr Pro account. Since Flickr either removed the Total Images feature or he’s exceeded the maximum they can count, that adds up to…well, a lot.
The second half of the gift was a lunch at the excellent Tufano’s Vernon Park Tap. (Never mind the lack of a slick web site…they are clearly too busy cooking awesome food.)
So, Donna and I hopped on a Metra train and made a bit of an adventure out of it. Of course I had a camera with me (I think my dad brought THREE), so I was able to pop the lens on and give it a run. The photo at the top was about the best of the lot in that first run, as we stalled outside Union Station, waiting for our return train.
I will not be sharing the others in that set. Several were portrait attempts, and I quickly learned another golden rule of photography…NEVER subject your loved ones to a 10mm wide angle lens. You will not be forgiven for the outcomes.
