I spend a great part of my day walking around and sitting with my shoulders back, chin forward, and my core tight. It’s what I thought was camouflage for the fact that I barely offer any attention to my diet, and my focus on exercise has…softened.
But camouflage only works until you take it off, or do something that is the equivalent of throwing on some Day-Glo orange. In this metaphor, sometimes I forget myself. My shoulders roll, my chin tucks, my core relaxes. Not that big a deal, if nobody notices. I get away with it—usually. Today somebody noticed.
I have three options, I think.
- Screw the camouflage. Plenty of folks walk around every day laying bare what they have to offer, why can’t I?
- Upgrade the camouflage. Be more mindful of allowing others to see that extra bit of roll, or that extra bit of jiggle. Probably a fair percentage of people walking around doing that too, isn’t there?
- Revert to a state where camouflage is unnecessary.
I’ve got a wee bit of residual motivation left in me from taking the plunge last week to FINALLY start this thing. So.
Now I’m going to start another thing.
I grabbed the Runtastic Squats Pro app about a month ago when it appeared on AppsGoneFree. Tonight I gave it a shot.
It’s a pretty cool little trainer assistant. So, I went out and grabbed the sister apps, PullUps, SitUps, and PushUps.
Just as cool. Motivating, and easy to use.
So (crap. That’s three times, isn’t it? Well…so what. It’s late.) that’s my new thing. Get in a post, run through my nightly training apps, go to bed too late.
Although….I’ll probably have to work on that too, yes?
Baby steps.
